Legacy Transparency
The support of change processes in the company requires reliable information on the current corporate structure. This applies in particular to the IT landscape of the company. The IT systems and their support functions for processes in the company are often inadequately documented, if at all. For change projects, such as the roll-out of new software systems or the change of processes, people then lack the information they need to analyse and anticipate the impact of these changes. The upshot is an increase in project risks and project costs and a decline in the quality of results.
The road to corporate transparency
TopEase Approach and TopEase XBench enables companies to create a structured and integrated documentation of their IT landscape. Integrated means that not only IT systems and source codes can be documented and analysed, but that the interdependencies of IT systems, competencies and overall impact on the business value chain can also be analysed.
A comprehensive legacy transparency analysis gives answers to questions such as:
- What IT systems are in use in the company?
- What processes are supported by the IT systems?
- Where are the IT systems and who is responsible for their operation?
- What costs are generated by the operation of the systems?
- How much longer can the legacy application be maintained? What investment does it entail?
- What is the exact scope of performance of the existing solution?
- Are cost savings possible through outsourcing or the use of a standard software?
- Where are the risks in the event of the various migration scenarios?
- What dependencies and interfaces are there between the systems?
As a result of a legacy transparency project, we also use TopEase Xbench to create on request a detailed IT map (link to de-identified IT map) in poster format for the documentation of your company’s IT landscape. This IT map not only provides an overview "at a glance", but is also an extremely effective means of communication.
