TopEase 6.2.1 - the usability release
Version 6.2.1 offers a lot of new features that simplify work with TopEase XBench. Apart from improved report functionalities, the dashboards have been re-designed, making them more dynamic and providing them with more filter options. New options in the generation of web portals allow a more individual configuration of the HTML output.
The new features at a glance:
Excel reports with optimized filter options
New dashboards with filter functionality in WebExplorer
Tabs improve the overview in the HTML portal
New options for the display of sequence flow elements
Display of diagrams as link or as image
Automatic synchronization of navigation tree
New options for access to external references
Excel reports with optimized filter options
The new structure of Excel report facilitates the filtering of data.
The data in the Excel reports created with the Report Wizard are now broken down into individual columns. This means that associated and nested cells are avoided. The data can thus be sorted or filtered (autofilter) using the corresponding Excel function. Elaborate post-processing of the TopEase reports for the evaluation and analysis of data is thus a thing of the past.
The Excel reports also contain new filter options (individual definition of OR and AND combinations) and the possibility of individually evaluating user-defined attributes ("Predefined Values").
One-click gap report
The gap report can now be made much more quickly.
To compare two TopEase models, or two model versions, the gap report can now be called up directly from the Report menu. The desired gap report can be started with the aid of a simple selection dialogue. Needless to say, the most important report settings have already been made. The user now only hast to select the two models to be compared and a report format.
If Excel has been selected as output format, the data can be sorted and filtered (autofilter) in the resulting Excel file. This facilitates the gap analysis especially in large models with many differences.
Needless to say, the gap report familiar from earlier TopEase versions for generating more specific gap reports is retained. Here, too, usability has been improved by allowing the user greater flexibility in the settings for displaying the report results. This improves the overview and readability of gap reports.
New dashboards with filter functionality in WebExplorer
A new, additional dashboard functionality is now available in the form of the TopEase WebExplorer V6.2.1. This can be called up via a special, dynamic dashboard menu.
The new dashboard design now provides the user with more information at a glance: in addition to the basic information on objective, index number, authority, colour, value, unit and period, a tendency is also automatically determined on the basis of historicized values. In addition, a link to the measurement value history is highlighted in the column report. To simplify the reading of the table, all columns can be sorted by clicking on the column heading.
Even greater convenience – especially with very large quantities of data – is provided by the filter functions, which are offered on the dashboards. As a standard feature, the dashboard contents can be filtered here according to the criteria objective, index number, colour and trend. Several options can be selected for each criterion. This gives the user the possibility of controlling very exactly what data are displayed in the cockpit.
If the data from the dashboard are to be further processed in Excel, they can simply be exported to Excel by clicking on a corresponding button.
Tabs improve overview in the HTML portal
All page contents (descriptions, diagrams, etc.) are now structured in tabs and displayed by theme. All information blocks of an object (with a process object e.g. General, Typical, DEBI, Value Flow, Measurement Values, Diagrams, Risks, Diagrams, More Relations and Change Control) are displayed in their own tab. This enhances the overview and improves navigation, especially in the case of extensive object information.
Display of sequence flow elements in the navigation and the content area
New publisher options make it possible to create nodes in the navigation tree and to display different types of sequence steps in the content area as object links. As a result, the content design is either more compact or more detailed, depending on user requirement. These options are available in TopEase Designer (Publishing Model), as well as in TopEase XChange Administrator (WebExplorer).
Display of diagrams as link or as image
Diagrams can now be either displayed directly in the web portal or referenced via a text link. The variant concerned can be defined when the portal is generated. Especially in the case of objects for which a lot of diagrams are highlighted, a display offers a better overview, where necessary, when it is presented as a link.
If so desired, however, several diagrams can also be displayed as an image. In this case, smaller-scale displays of the diagrams can first be presented one below the other. A click on one of these thumbnails then displays the diagram in its original size.
Print function for diagrams
The printing of diagrams from the web portal has been made very much easier.
For easier printing of diagrams all it takes is a click on the new print button, and the diagram is opened in the standard image viewing program, where it can be printed out.
Automatic synchronization of the navigation tree
With the aid of this function, displayed contents and navigation tree always remain synchronous.
Tree synchronization means that the object whose content is displayed in the content area is always activated in the navigation tree - even when the currently displayed content is called up via a link in the content area. The navigation tree updates automatically. If the “Tree Synchronization” option has not been activated, the navigation tree is not updated by clicking of object links in the content area, i.e. the object last clicked in the navigation tree remains selected.
Access to external references
Files referenced in the HTML portal can now be delivered directly from the web server.
When the portal is generated, TopEase XChange Administrator can be used to determine whether only the links to External References should be provided in the portal or whether the web server should provide the referenced files directly. The second variant has the advantage that access privileges to the external references can be granted to portal users by TopEase Administrator. Access privileges at the level of the file location are then no longer necessary for the portal user.
