The new TopEase XBench 6.3 opens up completely new possibilities to TopEase users for model maintenance and data analysis with TopEase WebExplorer.
Highlights:
New web architecture offers much wider options for the design of web applications
New dashboards with interactive filter function and optimized display of information
Greater clarity thanks to extended personalization functions
Improved support for change processes thanks to real-time model comparison
Extended support for BPM notation
Presentation and graphic modelling of class diagrams
New dynamic and interactive functions are based on cutting-edge web technology
TopEase XBench 6.3 comes with a completely new web architecture based on AJAX and Java Server Faces (JSF). For the first time, these new technologies now allow interactive and dynamic functions to be integrated in the TopEase WebExplorer.
These functions encompass, amongst other things,
- New toolbars create a more intuitive user interface.
- New editors for entering and amending data (text, measurements, object relations etc.) make the WebExplorer into the WebClient.
- New dashboards with dynamic filters display the data needed by the individual user.
- The integration of user-defined reports allows access to current analytical results.
New toolbars in the WebExplorer
Editing functions make the WebExplorer into a WebClient
- Texts can be comfortably processed in the WebExplorer by means of a new text editor.
- Editors for risks and measurements allow current risk and performance data to be entered via the WebExplorer.
- The linking of objects by means of object relations for DEBI allocations that indicate responsibilities for a given object is also a standard functionality of the new WebExplorer.
- Comments are clearly displayed in the WebExplorer. Discussions on current problems can thus be held online.
New breadcrumb navigation: easy navigation through complex models
Starting reports from the WebExplorer
Reports in various formats, such as Word or Excel, can now be generated directly in the WebExplorer. To adapt the reports to current information needs, different report options may be modified before the report is generated. In this way, you have up-to-date, meaningful reports to hand at all times - even without access to the TopEase Designer.
New, clearly designed dashboards with dynamic filters
The new dashboards in version 6.3 display a large amount of information on measurements and risks in a clear layout.
The list contents can be individually adapted by means of dynamic filters with different search criteria. Functions for sorting lists and for selecting the number of list entries displayed provided for a clear presentation of the desired information. Detailed views of the list entries can be called up directly from the list of results and permit a precise analysis of individual measurements and risks over time.
Graphics editor is now also available in the WebExplorer
Until now, the TopEase XBench supported modelling with a graphics editor only in the TopEase Designer. With the new TopEase version, the same functionality is now also available in the TopEase WebExplorer. So from now on TopEase users who have not installed TopEase Designer can also generate or modify diagrams.
Expanded TopEase MyZone
In version 6.3, not only does the TopEase MyZone now allow personal favourites to be saved, but all objects are also automatically listed in additional registration cards, where the user is entered as responsible, in a decision-making or advisory capacity. In the TopEase MyZone the “Memberships“ registration card also provides the user with an overview of all organizational units to which he is assigned in the TopEase model.
Support of change processes through real-time model comparison
An up-to-the-minute overview of changes and progress in a project is absolutely essential to ensure that the change process is under control at all times.
Using the new model comparison assistant, you can now follow all existing differences in two TopEase models (e.g. an As-Is and a To-Be model) in real time. Changes are highlighted in colour directly in a virtual comparison model and thus displayed in a clear presentation.
Extended support for BPM notation
The TopEase XBench has been capable of generating flow charts in conformity with business process modelling notation (BPMN) since the release of version 6.2. To facilitate with complex flow charts, version 6.3 now allows sub-processes in these charts to be opened and closed.
In the way, the user easily maintains an overview even with the most complex charts and does not have to jump back and forth in the model for a detailed presentation of a business process.
Events can now also be linked in the graphics editor.
Presentation and graphic modelling of class diagrams
Class diagrams modelled with TopEase have long been one of the standard TopEase features. With version 6.3, these diagrams can also be presented directly in TopEase XBench and WebExplorer using notation in conformity with unified modelling language (UML). It is no longer necessary to export the classes to an external editor. Changes in modelling can simply be carried out via the graphics editor.
Other new features
Improved web portal management: Stop/start function for web portals. The function allows rapid changes in ongoing operations. System resources are conserved when the portal is stopped.
Automatic model compression: If necessary, model compression now takes place automatically and in parallel with the operation and ongoing changes in the model. This means that the model is available at all times and data integrity is always ensured for all users of the model.
Flexible cache mechanism for web portals: Reference and diagram caches can be individually defined for each portal. This substantially improves the performance of the portals.
Input sample for predefined values: Specified drawing structures only permit certain inputs with predefined values. This automatically ensures the quality of the data input.
Graphic modelling: With version 6.3, hierarchy diagrams (such as organization charts) can now be graphically modelled.
The new version of the graphics editor offers new layout functions such as
- Resize functionality for selection of several shapes,
- Linking of a diagram to sub-diagrams, measurements or risks,
and many more new functions.
